The Chilean territory is analyzed using the map tool and multidisciplinary interpretations (taxonomy and matrices based on specific factors). The reprocessing and categorization of the data takes place through the mapping tool, making use of the “Sémiologique graphique” methodology (Bertin). The map represents the Valparaíso region where the Chilean campamentos are the expression of the yuxtaposición extrema: in an area of social disparity, spontaneous settlements prove highly adaptive to the morphology of the territory, creating a new rural and social dimension.
